Fresh off the TRE boards, I met up with Jemma thursday night to interview her about her inter-views. Well just her views. Getting straight to it we begin
"Jemma. Nice to meet you. You're a Global Moderator on TRE aren't you? What is that like?" "haha, well James, I've been kinda abusing my membership on there lately because of the site's "death". So it hasn't made much of a difference. It's really cool that it's been revamped though because the idea is great and I had a wonderful time on the old one. It's just a shame we can't get some of the old members back. It's damn Real Life getting in the way" In a wierd moment of madness, Jemma shakes her fist. I can only assume it was her anger at real life that spurred that on
"Woah, settle down there Jemma, let's not get violent So what are your views on the revamp? Also, as a follow-up question, how did the move from TRE to TRE2 go for you?" "I thought it kind of sad. I coded the colours for the skin myself on the old TRE and there was so much we had already done on that side. It was kind of a shame and I thought we could have stuck with the old one. I understand how it was necessary to natalie though because it was a fresh start obviously and if we started a new site we wouldn't have to get muddled with the old posts etc. and the old members. I miss it though. T'is a shame." She pets her computer, at which point I continue to be very worried about the nature of this family's actions "I'm worried the new one won't be as popular but it should be! TRE is an awesome idea and it'd be really fun if more people joined!"
"Well there's an advert for all the people reading! Speaking of adverts, there's a certain Season 4 info-thread which is shaping up to be a good read. But you say that the new TRE will not be as popular as it should be - what has lead you to believe such .... belief?" She laughs aloud at this question, which i enjoy - I like making people laugh "It's always nice to know people enjoy my interviews, haha" She finally settles down and we continue with the interview "Well, we have had trouble in the past with membership and that was what lead to the site's closure. It's happened with other sites as well. Likewise with other Lost RPG sites. But it is likely that will pass once the new season starts. I have to admit I have lost my love of RPing and I like to write fanfic now but as I am writing for myself it's different. Though I'm crap at writing for myself" A bead of sweat is on the side of her head for a moment in true anime style "If you've seen my posts you'll know. Oh, and I'm also incredibly lazy when writing posts like that. I shall try and put more effort in to it especially when we crash and the fun starts. Also, as you may have heard I don't like Lost as I once did..." She seems a little annoyed at mentioning this point "...I still love most of the characters, the ideas and previous seasons and such but I've been finding different fandoms to obsess over. I have hopes for season 4 though and I will watch it" "Yes anyone who has been reading the food court and middle section threads will see that site creator Natz has had a go at you about your lack of posting-substance."
"Moving on, I have experienced first hand that you are angry at the Lost writers for killing off a certain character in the latter end of Season 3. Tell us about it" All of a sudden, and without warning, some little gremlin-looking things run into the room, run up to us and start repeating "bother bother bother bother". I look bemused at yet another animal interruption in to one of my interviews. "Terribly sorry, these internet gremlins can be a bitch." Finding it hard to see since the gremlins have mobbed onto us, Jemma shouts to me "Are you still there? I hope I haven't ruined my interview - that would displease me" Eventually the gremlins depart, and we are able to continue with our interview "I said that I have experienced first hand that you are angry at the Lost writers for killing off a certain character in the latter end of Season 3. Tell us about it" "Oh Lord, I think I've discussed this too many times. But seriously though, it was unfair and uncreative. There are many ways they could have gotten out of that. Plus, Dom brough LOADS of fans to the show! You know how many people have told me he was the reason they started watching?! He wasn't the reason I started watching but I loved the character and it's not very pleasant to watch..." In the middle of the large rant I, rather embarrassingly, drift off. However she didn't seem to notice as she was still talking when I awoke seconds later "...was unusually quiet. Usually, he would be chatting away. But his last hours on the set he was very quiet and professional. The actor who played Mikhail even APOLOGISED for killing his character (meaning he sees it as murder, yes) and Dom just said "let's do this then and let's make it good." I find it sad. In Real Life and in the show itself. It made alot of people very depressed. I am hoping they will use this whole thing about time travel to bring him back. And he better be appreciated and missed when the other characters find out. There better be some superb acting!" By this time she has realised what she just did was a massive rant. Not that I blame her - I like a good ant now and again "Yeah, sorry about that. I get too carried away. Sensitive issue"
"You mentioned the issue of time travel appearing in Season 4 of the hit show LOST. Do you reckon this new dimension added to the show... Yes you will have to excuse the pun, readers ...will improve or ruin it?" "Gah, well far stretched as it may be, I've read pleanty of fanfic on it and have thouroughly enjoyed it. In case you didn't know Flashes Before Your Eyes was my favourite episode of season three for ages. (That was back when I was convinced Charlie was as safe as Jack and Kate ) And I loved the whole Des going back in time thing. We've already had monsters, flashes of the future and ghosts, why not time travel? It's also something that has intrigued me for a very long time. One of my current obsessions (and past from when I was a young lass) is Back To The Future which involved time travel to the past and future (it's actually my msn dp too)..." At this point Jemma points at her computer where there is a picture she has adapted from the film 'Back To The Future' "...And I loved it. And I still do. So no, I don't think it will ruin the show but I think they should use this as an advantage to bring Charlie back too. Locke, Mikhail and Naomi get to live so why not him? A loyal character that's been there since the beginning and that was loved by many?"
"Yeah life really can be a bitch I guess. Well it's good to get your views on lost, but let's change the topic slightly. So as any interviewer does I like to look for inside scoops. Any certified developments in TRE's plot that you can reveal to the readers?" "Ahhh. Well Natalie would be the brains behind that. On the old sites we used to run together we had our own board we could discuss things in just to be organised. But you know, we could discuss things in real life too. I don't think there's any set plans that we haven't shared with you guys yet. As soon as there's some ideas it will be shared so we can see the members views. We do know, however, we will be following the Lost plot as a guideline but most likely it will turn out quite differently to the show. Especially as there are different characters!"
"Yeah it's good to leech off some experience while still maintaining originality. So you're not holding anything back plot-wise. I'm sure the TRE members will like that because they'll always get to know what's going on. However that does eliminate the element of surprise don't you think?" "Yeah. As I said, anything you need to know we'll tell. But otherwise it may be pretty cool to think up something unexpected. That'd get us writing!"
"Yep, the staff are gonna love that! haha, speaking of writing you have mentioned something of an interest in script-writing before, yes?" Ohhh yes! You know, I've ALWAYS loved writing. Ever since primary school I used to write stories all the time. Then when I got to year seven I would write my own fiction. There would never be a time that I wasn't writing. I would always be occupied with it and would write every night. Then I got in to fanfiction and started writing about Lost and things like that, putting aside my original fiction for a short while. I finished off most of my own fiction and concentrated on fanfic. Since I started year ten it's been harder and harder to update fanfic though and enjoy writing. Anyway, I have trouble with description with adjectives and all that annoying jazz so I realised recently I'd love to be a scriptwriter! When writing, I always describe what I'm actually SEEING. I see the scene play out in my head visually so I just write down what I see. Which is why using adjectives to help me decribe can be hard. So I'd like to write screen play. I can control the camera angles and can see what I'd like done quite easily. I wouldn't mind being in a team of writers but I'd love to have a part in writing for television. It's now a dream of mine."
"Wow that sounds brilliant fun. Any screenplays in the making at the moment?" "No, not at the moment. I'm really trying with fanfiction updates right now. There's something I'm writing right now that I just looooove. And I've told people about it so I really must hurry up with it because I'm too excited about it to have people forget about it! I got a book on screenplay for Christmas that I have yet to read. It looks complicated but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. I actually went through a horrible phase really recently where I had really bad writers block and couldn't write anything! It was horrible!!" On mentioning this she seems saddened "I'm used to writing all the time so it was a huge shock. I blame school. It just sucks all the creativity out of me and puts me in very bad moods."
Just before we conclude I decide to try and a link or two for you readers. Here's what happened: "Well that's not good to hear - at least a few of the readers will be looking for links now I imagine. Got any for them?" "Links to my fanfic?" "yes. Well any writing you are willing to show the fans." "Sure, hang on. I wait for a few minutes while she looks. At this point things look good with regards to the links "...well, I have some on bebo. But they're quite old" "Just any you want to show off will do" As you can see I am really trying to get you readers some goods "Yay! http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1283506 That's my fanfic page. I joined that site when series 3 ended" Success! I had got what I wanted. Readers, you can thanks me whenever you like haha
So to finish off I decide to ask if there's anything Jemma specifically wants to bring into the interview "Great. Well the folkes will have something besides interviews to read now! So before we conclude the interview is there anything you'd like to bring up?" "Oh geeze. Random. Like what?" "Well anything you want. You know, you can say no" "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...nah, minds gone blank. Doesnt that suck." "Sure does, no offence. Well thanks for the interview, and I hope to get many readers seeing this!
Well there you have it folkes, another day another member interviewed. More to come soon, but until then check out the links!
Enjoy!
